About Us
Howtronics.com is the front end to a virtual Hackerspace with plans to move into a brick and morter hackerpsace at some point in the future. The name comes from combining How-To-Electronics. Members of the team (formerly know as the chipaxe team) are mostly in Michigan but also includes members located outside the state. Our goal is to create the products; books, hardware, software that help everyone enjoy electronics as much as we do here at howtronics and maybe someday have a training space for our customers to come and learn face to face from our team.

Our History:
In 2006 Chuck Hellebuyck decided to focus on writing books and friends took over the hardware he sold at elproducts.com and formed BeginnerElectronics.com. The breadboard modules he created were top sellers for the site.

In 2009 those breadboard modules were combined with a new microcontroller breadboard module design called the chipaxe module.  The website became chipaxe.com. The idea was to promote breadboard style electronic development and brought together several individuals to form The Chipaxe Team. This was the start of a virtual hackerspace.

Over time new products were developed including the CHIPINO module and many new shields. This took chipaxe.com in a different direction than the original breadboard development module business plan. With even more new designs in development outside of the breadboard development,  it was decided to rethink where this was going and move beyond chipaxe.com and form an expanded website dedicated to helping fund a real brick and morter hackerspace dedicated to the How-To Electronic hobbyist/educational community.

The site is run by our members in Georgia with technical help from Michigan.

In December, 2011 Howtronics.com was launched.
